
Professor of English Janette Turner Hospital, Distinguished Writer in Residence, is a finalist for the inaugural Asia-Australia Literary Prize. Her latest novel, “Orpheus Lost,” is among 12 finalists for the literary award, which comes with a $100,000 prize. The winner will be announced Nov. 21. Hospital has written nine novels and four collections of short stories. “Orpheus Lost” has been named to Booklist’s Top 30 novels of the year and the American Library Association’s Best 25 Books of the Year. It is the re-telling of the Orpheus legend in an age of international terrorism.
